What is “A New Normal”?
We have been closed for 7 weeks due to Covid-19 for the first time in more than 10 years. Therefore we have not been able to make any cakes or treats for all this time. We are now being told to get back to work if possible and the phrase being used is “A New Normal”.
Well, we have to ask the question what is “A New Normal”?
To get back up and running again we have had to pick our way through the many government guidelines. Namely, social distancing, face coverings, extra cleaning protocols and dividing screens to name just a few. Having reviewed the business and made some changes we are not able to turn the ovens on again.
It started for us with a separation screen for our counter to prevent face to face contact. However as Graham’s carpentry skill aren’t that good we asked JSO Carpentry to help us. As you can see they make a great job of it and it looks fantastic.
Contactless delivery was next, with the introduction of pre-payment and a small doorstep table. Meaning we set-up the table and cake on your doorstep then retreat giving space to pick up your cake in safety.
We can now say with confidence that we have done everything we can to create “a new normal”. Therefore keeping both our customers and our staff safe whilst complying with “Stay Alert, Control The Virus, Save Lives”
Looking scruffy after 7 weeks we all need haircuts, but no haircuts until at least July I hear you say. Loose hair needs a securing, time for another solution, The Regency Cakes bakery trilby.
Time to Start Work?
In food production hygiene is always of the highest importance, however we have also increased our cleaning routine. Hand washing, sanitiser gel and cleaning of work stations, door handles and customer areas have all been increased. Along with sanitiser gel being available to shop customers if money is being handled.
Final checks required to make sure we are ready to open, after being closed for 7 weeks. A good deep clean should do the trick. Then PPE ready – tick, hats ready – tick, customer safety ready – tick. Let’s go!
We know that you can’t have parties however birthday’s and events still need to be celebrated. So we are now creating a range of ‘small is beautiful’ cakes for you to fit the bill. So give us a call or drop us an email with your enquiry and we will get back to you, or you can pop in the shop and enquire and pick up some treats whilst you are here.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to safely seeing you soon.
Can Covid-19 be spread through food?
Current evidence shows good food hygiene and good food safety practices can prevent their transmission through food.
What are the social distancing guidelines?
The advice on social distancing measures applies to everyone. You need to maintain a distance of 2 meters between individuals. This advice applies to both inside the food business and in the external public areas where customers may need to queue.
Are masks effective against Covid-19?
Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.
